HUMANIST SPEAKER SERIES: Jay Rogers

  • Saturday, February 28, 2026
  • 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
  • Albuquerque Museum

FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC:

This month, member Jay Rogers takes the mic to explore humanist philosophy. “We talk a lot about what humanism is,” says Jay. “But too often it gets defined through the scope of atheism, or as a counterweight to religion. We rarely discuss the broader effects of humanism in practice, or the motivation to practice it as a philosophy.”

Jay will explain how humanism has positively affected his life and how his practice of humanism has positively affected others.

Raised in Indiana, the son of an evangelical minister and a schoolteacher/librarian, Jay was on track to follow his father to the pulpit. Then he read the Bible and became an atheist. He now identifies primarily as a Humanist. Jay is a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army, father, husband and friend to anyone who wants to be. Jay values kindness and curiosity as the highest virtues in life.

Will be livestreamed here at 10:40 a.m.
